Registration Deadline

The returning swimmer registration deadline is September 14th at the parent meeting.  All registration forms must be completed and fees paid by that date.

Please note that due to city of Richmond policy, registration fees must be paid by cashier’s check or money order.

Richmond Racers 2010-2011 Season

Returning Swimmers Registration:

• Monday, August 9th to Friday, August 13 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Swansboro Pool.  (No practices)
• Late registration is available August 16-19 if needed at the pool from 5:15 to 6:15pm Monday thru Thursday.
• No group changes will be made without the advanced written approval of the coaching staff.

NEW Swimmer Registration:
Please note: New swimmers are required to complete an in-water swimmer evaluation before registration will be accepted.

• Monday, August 23 through Friday, August 27 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Swansboro Pool.
• New swimmers are required to complete an in-water swimmer evaluation before registration will be accepted.
• Evaluations will be conducted Monday through Thursday from 5:15 to 6:15pm during the month of August.   (Except August 9-13).
• Late registration is available Aug 30 –Sept 2 at the pool from 5:15 to 6:15pm Monday through Thursday.
• Register early:  The RACERS program has a maximum limitation set by the Aquatic Director.

Additional important information:

• The last official day of summer practices for current swimmers is Friday, September 3rd.
• Racers parent organizational meeting:  Monday or Tuesday, September 13-14 at the pool from 5:30 to 6:30pm.
• The pool will be closed for annual maintenance from September 6-11 and into the following week if necessary.
• Practices are slated to begin on the week of Monday, September 13.  If additional pool repairs are required, families will be notified and practices will begin on the 20th.

Please note: there is a Thursday evening distance session although no RACE swimmers are entered.

All 10 & under swimmers swim in the afternoon as timed finals.  They do not swim in finals at night.

All 11 – 14 swimmers swim prelims in the morning and qualifiers swim in finals at night.

Dual Pool Format:   13-14 and 11-12 swimmers are in separate pools

This meet will run in two courses in the morning sessions of the competition. Please note that first number of each event number indicates which competition pool the swimmer will race in. The last two numbers in the event number is the actual “order” of the event.

10 & Under Warm-ups  (warmups are earlier on Sunday)

FRIDAY:   Arrive by 12 noon  / At Blocks 12:20pm  / WU 12:25-12:50  (2nd)  L3  Pool 2  / Start 1:00pm.

SATURDAY:  Arrive by 12 noon  / At Blocks 12:20pm  / WU 12:25-12:50  (2nd)  L2  Pool 2 / Start 1:00pm.

SUNDAY:      Arrive by 11:30am  / At Blocks 11:55am / WU 12:00-12:25  (1st)  L2  Pool 3 / Start 1:00pm.

11-14 Warm-ups   (Warmups different each day)

FRIDAY:  Arrive by 7:00am  / At Blocks 7:20am  / WU 7:25-7:50 (2nd)  L6  Pool 2  / Starts 8:30am.

SATURDAY:  Arrive by 7:30am  / At Blocks 7:45am / WU 7:50-8:15 (3 rd)  L5  Pool 1/  Starts 8:30 am.

SUNDAY:  Arrive by 6:40am  / At Blocks 6:55am  / WU 7:00-7:25 (1st)  L3  Pool 1/  Starts 8:30 am.

FINALS:   11 & Overs.  Arrive at 4:30pm or as advised by Lou.  WU 4:30-5:30pm   Meet Starts 6pm.

Congrats to our A/BB Champs swimmers

Our weekend in Lynchburg was a great one for the Racers, who came home with:

31 new A times

20 Age Group (JOs) qualifying times

6 new AA times

6 team relay records

And… a 6th place finish overall out of 19 teams, earning our swimmers a plaque and well-deserved pride in their accomplishments.

NOVA meet this weekend (Feb 5-7)

Due to uncertain weather conditions, watch your e-mail for updates on the NOVA meet.

Here is the current information from NOVA regarding the meet:

Friday @ 10:00 am

NOVA will make a decision to cancel or run the Friday PM session. NOVA will email each team attending the meet and post announcements on this website. If Friday’s PM session is cancelled, NOVA will request a sanction to run the exact same events the following Friday (Feb. 12th). If this is the case, NOVA will accept a change to your original entries but no new entries will be accepted and refund the differences if applicable.

Friday @ 4:00 pm

NOVA will decide to cancel, delay or run the Saturday sessions. NOVA will email each team attending the meet and post announcements on this website. If both Saturday sessions are cancelled, NOVA will request a sanction to run the exact same events the following Saturday (Feb. 13). If this is the case, NOVA will accept a change to your original entries but no new entries, and refund the difference.

If NOVA delays the start of Saturday’s sessions, we will run both sessions Saturday.

NOVA is not planning on any problems with regard to Sunday’s sessions.

Racers win Arctic Blast

Congratulations to all the Racers who took part in the January “Arctic Blast” home VCSL meet.   After the final scores were tallied, Richmond Racers won the meet with 954 points.  For complete results, see the Meet Results page.
